The European Association of Archaeologists brings together around 11,000 members who come from more than 60 different countries and working in prehistoric, classical, medieval and post-medieval archaeology. Their annual conference, considered as the most important meeting of the archaeological community in Europe, took place in Barcelona from 5th to 8th of september 2018 and brought together almost 3,000 participants.
During the conference, BioDivMex members presented their work in two sessions.
Claudia SPECIALE and Nathalie COMBOURIEU-NEBOUT (both from WG4) were associated with others researchers to present results from their environmental research activities in Case Bastione (Central Sicily) field site, « The prehistoric village of Case Bastione (Central Sicily) : palaeoenvironmental and palaeoeconomic data from Central Sicily between Copper and Bronze Age ». The talk took place in the session « Communities, environment and resources : the structuration of cultural landscapes in prehistoric Sicily and the central Mediterranean basin » and the entire session will be published in a special issue of Archaeological Sciences (peer-review newspaper).

In the session « Earthen architecture and habitation sites : building ways of life in prehistory », WG4 members, Claudia SPECIALE, Bruno VILA and Ambre DI PASCUALE co-presented with others researchers the early results of the collaboration between archaeologists and biologists on the origin and diffusion of canes, « The prehistoric village of Case Bastione (Central Sicily) : palaeoenvironmental and palaeoeconomic data from Central Sicily between Copper and Bronze Age ». All the talks will soon be available in a monographic publication.
